BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Over 20 inmates in Boyle County have been quarantined for hepatitis A, according to officials.
Boyle County detention center deputy jailer says an inmate who was released last week tested positive for hepatitis A.
The health department contacted the jail three days after he was released to let them know.
According to officials the 16 men in the cell with him were immediately quarantined.
They say those men will be released from quarantine on Saturday.
Officials say another man with hepatitis A exposed a separate cell and those men also had to be quarantined.
Those men will be released from quarantine in the next couple of weeks, according to the deputy jailer.
Officials say no other inmates have showed any symptoms, but they have vaccinated the inmates the men had contact.
