MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Montgomery County deputy jailer has been identified as the man shot and killed Saturday night in Mt. Sterling.
The County Coroner says 47-year-old David Scott was in his home around 8:15 P.M. when he got shot.
His neighbor, Francis Zaayer, was arrested early Sunday morning.
She is accused of shooting Scott and his wife.
The coroner says his wife was taken to UK Medical Center.
She moved from critical to stable condition Sunday afternoon.
The county sheriff says Zaayer used to live with Scott and his wife and the neighbors have had an ongoing dispute.
According to the sheriff, Zaayer also tried to shoot Scott’s aunt, missing twice and hitting her car instead.
Zaayer faces murder, attempted murder, and burglary charges.
Right now, the community is mourning the loss of a friend, a brother, and a father.
Eric Jones, the Montgomery County Jailer, is a good friend of Scott’s.
He says he found out what was happening over the police scanner and had to tell his friend’s daughter her father had died.
