LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Chief Deputy Rodrick Robinson was awarded Thursday with the first Service Above Self award presented by the Rotary Club of Lexington. Chief Deputy Robinson was honored with other local first responders.
The Service Above Self award takes its name from Rotary International’s principal motto, conveying the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service.
Chief Robinson oversees day-to-day field operations within the agency, including community engagement. He leads the McGruff program, where he discusses safety and bullying prevention with elementary-age students, and also participates in the Books and Badges program, where a Deputy Sheriff reads a book to students and gives each student a book to take home.
Chief Robinson is a previous recipient of the Deputy Joseph M. Angelucci award, the highest honor given by the Office of Sheriff, and the Medal of Valor. These awards were earned through his courage and bravery during an incident involving a firearm and his life-saving efforts for one of Lexington’s citizens.
