LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Chief Meteorologist Jason Myers says the rain isn’t letting up anytime soon, so expect rain showers to continue through the overnight.
A Flash Flood Warning for Fayette County has been issued until 10:15p.m. Friday.
Rain is expected to diminish overnight into Saturday morning, but more rain is expected throughout Saturday. This can lead to more potential flash flooding.
The Kentucky Mesonet Site reports a total rainfall of 1.26 inches Friday afternoon into the evening hours.
The first round of storms hit Fayette County from 5p.m. to 7p.m with frequent thunder and lightening. The second round hit from 8p.m. to 9:30p.m. Friday evening.
Chief Meteorologist Jason Myers says the worst areas for flooding were the Tates Creek Road area stretching from Veterans Park to the Lansdowne Shopping Center area.
