LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-You still have a few more days to check out some brews of the bluegrass. Lexington’s craft beer week goes through this Sunday.
Breweries tell ABC 36 each year craft beer week is getting bigger and bigger.
“It’s like a small version of the Great American Beer Fest which is really cool,” said Derek DeFranco from Mirror Twin Brewing.
Now in its 6th year, craft beer week in Lexington has become a big attraction.
“We’ve seen nothing but growth as far as a lot of new customers coming in,” DeFranco said.
Just in the past year, two new breweries have popped up in Lexington, alone. Brewers say it’s because the city has the perfect climate for small business.
“I think there’s almost a sweet spot. It feels like a tight knit community,” Kore Donnelly from Blue Stallion Brewing Company said.
Brewers say it’s that sense of community that has put Lexington on the map as a growing beer destination.
“With a couple more breweries in town that’s only going to increase. They may not come for the beer but they’ll stay for the beer,” DeFranco said.
