LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police personnel placed a wreath at the grave of Trooper John Wayne Hutchinson Wednesday morning, May 16.
The ceremony was held at the Elk Springs Cemetery in Wayne County as past of KSP’s annual observation of National Police Officer’s Memorial Week.
Trooper John Wayne Hutchinson was fatally shot on June 4, 1975 while arresting a drunk driver in McCreary County.
He was assigned to Post 11 London and served with KSP for two years; he was 29.
In honor of his service and sacrifice, KY 90 in Wayne County has been designated the Trooper John W. Hutchinson Memorial Highway.
