LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Laurel County man was arrested after wrestling with a deputy and trying to take his gun.
According to the the Laurel County Sheriff, deputies went to a residence off Silver Eagle Road, two miles south of London to serve an active warrant on the morning of Thursday, May 10.
Deputies made contact with one subject, identified as 40 year-old Johnathan M. Grosswiler of London, and while searching the residence were advised that there was another subject at the residence.
Grosswiler heard the advisement from dispatch regarding an active warrant out for him and fled through the front door into the yard.
One of the deputies gave chase and yelled at Grosswiler to stop running.
During a struggle with the deputy, Grosswiler attempted to grab the deputy’s gun.
Other deputies on scene subdued Grosswiler and took him into custody.
The deputy that struggled with Grosswiler suffered injuries to his hand.
Grosswiler was charged with resisting arrest; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; disorderly conduct – second degree; hindering prosecution or apprehension – first-degree; assault third-degree – police officer is victim; disarming a peace officer; menacing; alcohol intoxication third offense.
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel circuit court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of benefit child support. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.
