FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- With the weather warming up, it’s time to get outside and head to the park.
“Kids to Parks Day” is full of kid friendly events and will be held on May 19 at several Kentucky State Parks.
The National Park Trust started “Kids to Parks Day” in 2011 to stress the importance of being active and healthy living.
Kentucky State Parks participating include:
E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville with its Nature and Wildlife program, which will have a hike on Goose Creek Nature Trail to explore plants and wildlife and make nature crafts.
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonsburg will have free activities for children featuring games, concessions, and animals.
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park near Dawson Springs will have a hike, arts and crafts, and a campfire program.
John James Audubon State Park will hold a nature hike.
Pine Mountain State Resort Park will hold a junior naturalist program on camping.
Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Historic Site will hold a flint and stones program.
