LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A family has lost both their home and dog in a fire Tuesday morning.
According to the fire department, it happened at a home on Valley Court in London around 8:30 a.m.
Firefighters say it started in the garage and quickly spread to the rest of the house.
The homeowner was home at the time, according to the fire department. The man lives in the home with his wife, though she was not home.
They say the man was in the shower when he got out and smelled smoke coming from the garage.
The man made it out safely, but he was unable to save his pet, which was inside the garage at the time of the fire.
The puppy, named Jackson, was eight months old. The family says they had recently rescued him from the side of a road.
The fire department says two cars and a motorcycle were destroyed in the fire.
They say the fire also destroyed the entire garage and most of the home.
Firefighters do not suspect the fire was set intentionally, but the cause is still under investigation.
