When firefighters arrived, they say a car, a home and an attached garage were all on fire.

“It was burning for hours. I think they were here hours trying to put it out,” Eugene Pinkie, who lives across the street, told WHAS in Louisville. “Whoever torched it must have used gasoline or something to really burn it up because that whole car is really blazing.”

Crews found Georgina L. Knott dead inside the home.

Kentucky State Police say the body of James M. Knott was found inside a car behind the home, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police investigators are working with fire officials on the investigation. Arson is being considered as a cause.

The Jefferson County Coroner is conducting the autopsies.
