London Police make strong-arm robbery arrest


LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Woman arrested after robbery at London gas station.

London Police were dispatched to the BP Station on West Ky-192 regarding a robbery.

An employee stated that he was in the office for a brief period of time and when he returned to the front he saw a woman behind the counter.

She had removed a money bag containing more then $500, then left the store.

The woman was identified as 34 year-old Cynthia A. Swafford of London.

The employee followed Swafford out of the store and told a customer to call 911.

He asked Swafford for the money bag and she gave it to him.

The employee attempted to keep Swafford on the property until police arrived, but she started to assault him then fled.

Officers canvased the area then knocked on the door of an apartment at 508 Minton Drive where Swafford answered.

Officers immediately recognized Swafford and arrested her.

The store employee also positively identified Swafford as the robbery suspect.

Swafford is charged with second-degree robbery.
