Many in Lexington walked to raise HIV awareness

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The rain got in the way of a lot of weekend plans, but not AVOL’s aids walk for life in Lexington.

Walkers just donned ponchos, some over drag.

Our very own Troy Thompson and friend of “Midday Kentucky”, David Goldman emceed the walk.

The goals were to raise HIV awareness, fight stigma, and make HIV history.

According to AVOL, there is still a lot to fight for.

Eight of the ten most vulnerable counties for an outbreak are in Kentucky, and one in four people who test positive for HIV in the state will be diagnosed with aids in three months.
