UPDATE: LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has released a statement regarding the loss of Officer Meacham late Thursday night.
McConnell says, “Last night’s targeted act of violence against one of Kentucky’s finest is shocking. UPDATE 3/30/18 3:00 a.m.- CLARKSVILLE, Tn. (WBKO) – According to WBKO, the man accused of killing Officer Phillip Meacham has been killed by police with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office in Clarksville, Tennessee.

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Hopkinsville Police Officer with 14-years experience in law enforcement in Christian County was gunned down Thursday afternoon by a man investigators say was pretending to be a police officer.
Investigators say 38-year old Officer Phillip Meacham, of Hopkinsville, was pronounced dead at Jenny Stuart Medical Center. He leaves behind a wife and two school-aged children, according to State Police.
The search is on for the accused killer, 34-year old James Decoursey, of Hopkinsville. Investigators say after the shooting, Decoursey ran off and stole a white 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck with Kentucky license plate 2070GH. State Police say there’s a chance Decoursey later changed vehicles.
He is considered armed and dangerous and if spotted, should not be approached. People are asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
