Services will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at the Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium at Christian County High School. Burial will follow at New Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.  He leaves behind a wife and two children.  Arrangements are being handled by Lamb Funeral Home.

Officer Meacham was gunned down Thursday while off-duty by a man impersonating a police officer, according to State Police.  That man, James Decoursey, of Hopkinsville, shot and killed Officer Meacham, stole a pickup truck and took off, according to KSP.  Decoursey was later located in Clarksville, Tennessee, where officers shot and killed him after a brief encounter, according to State Police.

Meacham was just two months away from his one year anniversary with the city’s police department when he was shot and killed.

Before that he had worked for the county sheriff for 12 years.

The Christian County Judge-Executive says Meacham is the first officer to be killed in the county in more than 30 years.

The judge also says Meacham’s wife and third-grade daughter was in the car with him when he got shot.
