WARFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – The third victim, injured by a shooting in Martin County, has been identified.
According to Kentucky State Police, Amber Lockhard, 31, is one of three people, shot near an abandoned strip mine Friday afternoon.
Lockhard was hospitalized, in critical condition, according to KSP.
Micah Sammons, 20, and Derek L. James, 26, both died in that shooting.
State Trooper William Petry says no suspects have been named. He also says the shooting doesn’t appear to be a random act, and that there was some sort of motive or intention behind it that remains to be found at this time.
The shooting is still under investigation.
According to police, the road near the strip mine, where the shooting happened, is a popular spot for people to ride all-terrain vehicles.
