LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Reconstruction work begins Thursday on a section of Lansdowne Drive.
It will take place between Tates Creek Road and Brookhill Drive and road closures and detours will be in place at that time. Traffic will be detoured onto adjacent neighborhood streets.
The section is being rebuilt due to multiple pavement failures.
According to the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works, the project will be completed in two phases.
Phase I of the project will take place on the section of Lansdowne Drive between Tates Creek Road and Zandale Drive. Work will begin on the eastbound side, the side closest to the Signature Club. Once the eastbound lanes have been reconstructed and an asphalt base installed, work will move to the westbound side. Reconstruction of each side in Phase I is estimated to take two weeks.
Work will begin on Phase II, Lansdowne Drive between Brookhill and Zanedale Drives, after reconstruction of Phase I is complete. Work on Phase II of the project will begin on the eastbound side. As with Phase I, closures will be necessary and are estimated to last two weeks per side.
Once reconstruction has been completed for both sides of both phases, crews will install a final surface layer and pavement markings.
The Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works says the entire project should be complete by Memorial Day.
