LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Motorists will need to find a alternate routes as work begins on Lansdowne Drive this week.
Construction is set to begin Wednesday, March 21 on the section of Lansdowne Drive between Tates Creek Road and Brookhill Drive.
This section has to be rebuilt because of multiple pavement failures.
There will be two phases to the project, which will require detours onto adjacent neighborhood streets.
Phase 1 will focus on Lansdowne Drive between Tates Creek Road and Zandale Drive with construction starting on the eastbound side, which is closest to the Signature Club.
Work will begin on the westbound side once the eastbound lanes are constructed and an asphalt base is installed.
The entirety of Phase 1 will take 4 weeks to complete.
Phase 2 will focus on Lansdowne Drive between Brookhill and Zanedale Drives once Phase 1 is complete.
Like Phase 1, Phase 2 will start with construction on the east side and move to the west side.
Phase 2 will also take around 4 weeks to complete.
Once reconstruction has been completed for both phases, a final surface layer and pavement markings will be installed
The entire project is estimated for completion by Memorial Day.
