SOUTH FORK, Ky. (WTVQ)- A crash in the South Fork community leaves one person dead.
The single vehicle crash happened around 2 AM Monday in Breathitt County.
KSP Troopers responded to the scene on Highway 1098 in South Fork along with McIntosh Ambulance and the Quicksand Fire Department.
There they located a burning vehicle with human remains inside.
An initial investigation determined that the vehicle was travelling westbound on KY 1098 when it went off the road and hit a tree before going up in flames.
Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith pronounced the unidentified occupant deceased upon arriving at the scene.
The remains were taken from the vehicle and transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Officer in Frankfort for an autopsy and identification.
The crash remains under investigation.
