LEXINGTON, ky. (WTVQ) – Nationwide students will walkout of school for 17 minutes demanding gun control. The 17 minutes is for the 17 victims in the Parkland school shooting.
Lexington Catholic plans to have a 17 minute prayer service for the victims of the shooting.
The ACLU of Kentucky posted information on their website telling students what rights they have when protesting. They also wrote an open letter to school officials encouraging them to allow students to protest peacefully.
Several colleges have also released statements about the walkout. Transylvania University said that no student would be hurt on the application process if they are disciplined by their high school for participating in the walkout.
Walkouts are set to begin at 10 AM nationwide.
