Charity auction to participate in Capital Plaza Tower implosion

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – An online auction announced by Governor Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin, will allow a winner to push the ceremonial plunger for the implosion of the Capital Plaza Tower.

According to the governor’s office, all proceeds from the auction will benefit #WeAreKY! Inc., the First Lady’s foundation which works to better the lives of vulnerable Kentucky children and families.

The winner of the auction will join Governor Bevin, state and local officials on stage during pre-implosion festivities. They will also push the ceremonial plunger that signals the start of the controlled demolition.

The governor’s office says the winner will also receive two complementary tickets to attend a luncheon before the implosion, hosted by the #WeAreKY! foundation.

The auction will be open to the public through Saturday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. (ET), and the final bid will be tax deductible. The winning bidder will be notified the same day.

The plaza’s implosion is scheduled for Sunday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m.
