LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Don’t be alarmed by the sirens you hear Thursday morning.
A Statewide Tornado Safety Drill will be conducted at approximately 10:07 a.m. Thursday, March 1st.
During the drill, the National Weather Service, along with Kentucky Emergency Management, the Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee, and Kentucky Broadcasters Association, will issue a test tornado warning message.
Weather alert radios will go off, outdoor warning sirens may sound, and many television and radio stations will broadcast the alert during the drill.
The drill allows all Kentuckians the opportunity to practice tornado safety, according to officials.
If there is inclement weather on that day, the Statewide Tornado Drill will be postponed or cancelled.
