The theater chain says it’s an effort to improve the safety and security of its guests and employees.

Exceptions will be made for equipment bags and diaper bags.

Cinemark says it does not have a general area to check bags or any other personal belongings.

It also says it reserves the right to inspect all bags and packages entering the theater.
