FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- Gov. Matt Bevin was in Eastern Kentucky Tuesday to participate in the grand opening of eKAMI.
eKAMI is the HAAS eKentucky Advanced Manufacturing Institute located in Paintsville, Kentucky.
The new 40,000 square-foot training facility offers 16 week training programs that will help build a skilled workforce in the hopes of attracting more advanced manufacturing to Kentucky.
eKAMIs first class began in November 2017, with students ranging from age 18 to 55.
The programs utilize state-of-the-art HAAS equipment to prepare students for positions including computer numerical control (CNC) machinist, machine building, and tool maintenance technicians in aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.
