LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – More than one-hundred people took advantage of the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s free flu shot clinic on Tuesday, according to the health department.
Traditionally, flu season in Kentucky peaks in February and can continue into May.
To date, there have been more than 500 confirmed cases of the flu in Fayette County this season and 12 flu-related deaths, according to the health department.
Health officials say it’s not too late to get a flu shot, regardless of its effectiveness this season because some protection is better than no protection.
Flu in Kentucky is still classified at the ‘epidemic’ level, according to the CDC.
