SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ)- Motorists are asked to prepare for nighttime closures on I-75 from February 8th through the 9th.
The closures will be to replace bridge beams for the KY 1505 bridge at mile marker 68.3.
Closures for bridge repair project will begin at 9 PM Thursday, February 8 and will reopen by 6 AM Friday, February 9th.
During this time all southbound lands will be closed to travel along with the left, passing lane (inside) of the northbound side.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via the Berea Exit 76 onto U.S. 25 and then back on to I-75 in Mt. Vernon.
A car crash on January 9th under the bridge prompted a structural review of the overpass.
From the inspection it was determined that three beams needed to be replaced, but did not pose any safety concerns.
The KY 1505 bridge replacement is part of the ongoing $31 million I-75 widening project between mile points 64.5 to 69.
