PENDLETON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is in jail after Kentucky State Police arrested him on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
According to KSP, Jonathan McClain, 25, was arrested just after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
KSP says McClain was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
The investigation began after McClain was found using social media to engage in sexual conduct and communication with minors, according to KSP.
KSP says they took the equipment McClain used to commit the crime, and gave it to KSP’s forensic lab for examination.
According to KSP, McClain is currently charged with five counts of promoting a minor under 16 in sex performance, ten counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by minor and ten counts of distribution obscene matter to minors first offense.
Promoting a minor under 16 in sex performance is a Class-B felony with each count punishable by ten to 20 years in prison, according to KSP. They say possession of matter portraying a sex performance by minor is a Class-D felony with each count punishable by one to five years in prison, and distribution of obscene matter to minors first offense is a Class-A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail.
McClain was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
