LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — The proposed budget for new road construction in Lexington is expected to be around $126 million, which includes projects on Newtown Pike, New Circle Road, and Clays Mill Road.
According to a press release, Lexington plans to start work on a new bridge where Newtown Pike crosses New Circle Road as early as this spring.
In late 2018 and early 2019, plans would see New Circle Road expanded to six lanes between Georgetown Road and Boardwalk.
In 2020, the plan calls for Newtown Pike to also be expanded to six lanes, all the way from New Circle Road to I-75.
Officials say they hope to keep existing lanes open during the day while construction is underway.
Another provision in the plan is for Clays Mill Road, which would be expanded with a middle turn lane, bike lanes, and additional right turn lanes.
