CALVERT CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police Detectives are investigating an explosion that happened early Thursday morning on the Tennessee River.
According to Marshall County Dispatch, they received a call reporting an explosion on a tug-boat docked on Hollinger Road at 9:17 a.m.
Several local crews responded to the call.
KSP says they were requested shortly after for investigation.
Officials say the preliminary evidence shows the explosion happened while it was being worked on.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and several other people were transported to the hospital for injuries, police say. They also report injuries ranging from non-life threatening to life-threatening.
State police say there is no early indication that foul play was involved in the incident.
