LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Crews in Lexington have been busy all day doing their best to keep the roads clear.
“It’s snow, it’s mother nature and it takes its course. So we just do what we have to do to get the roads clear,” said Allen Kerns, a snow plow driver.
Allen Kerns has been a snow plow driver here in Lexington for years now.
“I love doing this work. Out snow plowing and I feel like I’m doing a good deed for you know the city of Lexington,” said Kerns.
But Kerns says sometimes it can be tough, especially when people complain to him about how they think it takes the city too long to clear the roads.
“They’re just saying that we weren’t ready for it or we’re not doing enough to get to the threes and fours, the residential areas, but we have to get out ones and twos, the main roads, clear before we start in the threes and fours,” said Kerns.
Kerns says when it’s snowing like this, the plows have to stay on the main roads plowing them multiple times a day in order to keep them clear.
He says people shouldn’t expect plows on their neighborhood roads until after the snow stops.
“Just give us time and we will be out there to do it. It’s the way the list is,” said Kerns.
Kerns says while people can get a little antsy during storms like this, plowing the snow is still his favorite part of the job.
“If we didn’t like doing it, I guess we wouldn’t be here doing it. You got to love the job to do it. So that’s part of it,” said Kerns.
