LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department says a woman found on the side of a road Tuesday night was fatally shot.
Police were called to the 5900-block of Tates Creek Road at around 9:20 p.m. after someone spotted a person on the ground near the road.
When they arrived, officers found a woman dead, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified her as 39-year-old Rachel Preston.
The coroner lists her death as a homicide and say she died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say their preliminary investigation indicates the shooting may be drug-related but say they have no suspect description or motive at this time.
