PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A sergeant with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department made a horrific discovery at a home Thursday.
The department received a call about some dogs not being properly cared for at the home at 56 White Drive in Grapevine.
Sergeant Ruey Couch responded and says he found a puppy dead on the porch. Under the porch, he found a female dog on a very short chain and three puppies.
The adult dog was underweight and was not being property feed, according to Couch. He says the dogs were left without proper shelter in the 30-degree temperatures.
The Perry County Sheriff’s Department says the owner of the dogs, Kayland Miller, was charged with cruelty to animals.
The dogs were taken to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard.
