LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former vice mayor of Lexington is now eyeing the mayor’s office.
Linda Gorton announced Tuesday morning she is running to replace Mayor Jim Gray.
Gray announced earlier this month he will challenge Representative Andy Barr in Kentucky’s 6th congressional district and would not seek a third term as mayor.
Gorton stepped down as vice mayor in 2014. She served 16 years on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council.
The only other person to announce he is running to succeed Gray is Councilman-at-Large Kevin Stinnett.
