EAST BERNSTADT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman returned home Wednesday morning from taking her child to school to find a man parked in her driveway, burglarizing her home, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 41-year old Todd McWhorter, of East Bernstadt, slashed the woman’s tires and continued to steal from her home while she sat locked in her disabled car.
Investigators say it happened around 8:45 a.m. off JB Lewis Road, of KY 1228, approximately eight miles north of East Bernstadt.
With help from tips from citizens, deputies say they identified McWhorter as the burglar and found him shortly after 3:00 p.m. off Old Hare Road, north of London.
Investigators say most of the stolen items were recovered in several different locations and were returned to the victim. Those items included a flatscreen TV, fishing equipment, jewelry, medicine, and a radio system to name a few, according to deputies.
Todd McWhorter was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center facing burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest charges, according to deputies.
