LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman police say kidnapped a Lexington cab driver over the weekend appeared before a judge on Monday.

According to police, 18-year-old Haley Gardner and a juvenile got into a Taxi One cab around 4 a.m. Sunday morning near New Circle Road and Tates Creek Road.

They say the girls asked to go to Danielle Lane but then asked the driver to make an additional stop. At that stop, officers say the taxi driver saw that one of them had a gun. He then told them he was unable to continue the ride.

Police say Gardner and the juvenile told the driver they would kill him if he didn’t continue the trip. As he was driving them, police say he was able to call 911 without his Gardner and the juvenile knowing.

Officers made a traffic stop on Fortune Drive near Danielle Lane and arrested them both.

They were charged with kidnapping, receiving stolen property, minor in procession of firearm and drug charges.

On Monday, Gardner pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Her bond was set at $20,000.
