Assault, shot fired during road rage incident

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A truck driver says a man fired a shot at him in a fit of road rage on I75.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the semi truck drove to the Pilot Travel Center in Williamsburg and called police at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday.

He says while traveling northbound on I75 at the Kentucky-Tennessee border, he encountered a hostile driver who followed him to a rest area.

The driver says the man confronted him and starting hitting him with a revolver. He says during the assault, the gun went off and a bullet went through the cab of his truck.

He was not hit.

The victim says the suspect took off in what is believed to be a maroon Ford Taurus. He is described as a black male about 5’8″ tall with dreadlocks and the letter “L” tattooed on his neck. The style of the neck tattoo was compared to the monogram associated with University of Louisville.
