CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A past-due bill led to a standoff in Harrison County Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says a worker with TruCheck showed up at a home on Shawhan Road in Cynthiana at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday to shut off the power to the home.
The worker and a man at the home, Patrick Sturgill, exchanged words, according to the sheriff, and that’s when the worker called police.
The sheriff says, as the worker was driving off, Sturgill fired five rounds near her.
Deputies arrived at the home and say Sturgill refused to come out.
He finally left out the back door of the home at around 11:45 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident.
The sheriff says Sturgill is charged with wanton endangment and menacing.
