Lexington man accused of impersonating FBI officer

SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man is under arrest, accused of impersonating an FBI agent.

The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy spotted a speeding car on Wednesday. He says the driver was going 111 miles per hour near Elk Creek.

The deputy was finally able to get the driver to stop in a McDonald’s parking lot.

The sheriff’s office says the driver, Robert Powell of Lexington, was charged with impersonating an FBI agent, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, wanton endangerment, speeding, reckless driving, fleeing or evading police.

The FBI interviewed Powell before he was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center.
