LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thousands of people went shopping for Black Friday, and while you may be worn out, the sales aren’t over just yet.
Saturday focuses on small businesses.
At the Chevy Chase Plaza, stores are getting ready for Small Business Saturday.
Inside Worlds Apart, employees say they’re excited to give the community a different shopping experience from what they’d find at big retailers.
“When you can go into a little boutique and shop, talk to people, touch it, feel it, have it gift-wrapped, have a more personal experience… that’s what we feel like people really want,” said World’s Apart employee Faith Dickson.
Worlds Apart employee Brooke Pohl says all the stores in Chevy Chase are good places to find gifts for people on your list.
“The shops that are here offer a lot of variety, so it’s easier for people to come into this neighborhood and shop,” said Pohl.
Some shoppers told ABC 36 they prefer shopping local year-round, saying it’s kind of like a big treasure hunt. You never know what you’re going to find.
“It’s more relaxed, but it’s also more fun,” said shopper Joe Gatton. “I’ve been in this place a lot before and I always find something I didn’t see before, which is really neat.”
Worlds Apart employees encourage you to come out, even if you don’t plan to buy anything.
“We want you to come out and just socialize with us,” said Dickson. “In the evenings, we might have a little bit of bourbon and a little wine. It’s all about community.”
Saturday, the shops at Chevy Chase will be having sales all day. There will also be a window display contest that the public will vote in.
