FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A speech generating computer has been returned to a special needs teen, according to Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton.
The $17 thousand Tobii Dynavox belongs to 14-year old Layne Barlow. It was stolen from her family’s van while they were attending a church service on November 2.
Sheriff Melton says the device was found on November 7, just a few days after it was stolen.
At a press conference on November 3, Sheriff Melton said that if whoever took the device brought it back to the station, there would be no consequences.
However, Sheriff Melton explains that is not what happened. He says he went knocking on doors and found the device in someone’s home.
Details are not available right now, but Sheriff Melton says he plans to have a press conference next week to talk about the investigation.
Sheriff Melton says the investigation is still ongoing, but he does expect charges to be made in the case.
