KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) -According to Kentucky State Police, one man is dead following an officer-involved shooting.
KSP says a trooper and a Knott County Sheriff’s Deputy went to a home on Hemp Patch Road Wednesday evening to arrest a man with active warrants out against him.
While they were there, KSP says they heard noise coming from a nearby trailer.
They say they found Christopher Jacobs, 28, under the trailer. According to KSP, Jacobs refused to come out from under the trailer, then ran to a car, refusing to come out once again.
Officers say they tasered Jacobs, before he put the car in gear, dragging the deputy and hitting the police cruiser.
According to KSP, Jacobs then put the car in reverse, attempting to hit the trooper.
That’s when the trooper shot Jacobs, according to KSP.
The Knott County Coroner confirmed Jacobs died on scene. The coroner says Jacob’s body was taken to Frankfort Thursday for an autopsy.
