LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police are searching for two men in connection with a September shooting that happened outside of Southern Middle School.
Officers responded to the parking lot of the middle school for a report of shots fired on September 28, according to police.
A short time later, police say a man identified as Antonio Loyd arrived at the VA Medical Center, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The Lexington Police Department now has a warrant for 32-year-old Randy T. Roberts and 20-year-old Antonio Loyd. They’re wanted in connection with that shooting.
Through the investigation, police say they found that Loyd and Roberts confronted another individual in the school parking lot as retaliation for a prior altercation.
According to police, both men are originally from Detroit and are accused of kidnapping mutual acquaintances at gunpoint, who were forced to set up the meeting and drive the suspects to the parking lot.
Police say that confrontation led to Loyd being shot.
According to police, there was a football game going on at the back of the school, however they do not believe the shooting was connected to any students, parents or staff at the school.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Roberts or Loyd is asked to contact police.
