LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a shooting happened Friday night off South Limestone, near the University of Kentucky campus. It happened in front of the Two Keys Tavern, where a lot of people like to spend their time.
According to police, no one was injured in the shooting, but it did damage two cars in a parking lot near the tavern.
One man says he thinks because this shooting and others like it are happening in popular areas, people are more concerned for their safety when spending the night out on the town.
“I’m sure it would keep people from wanting to go there because they’re like, ‘well if I go here, will I get shot today?,’ said Lexington resident Tristan Todd. “Nobody wants to think about that and then if you are thinking about that, you’re probably not going to go there because you don’t wanna get shot. Like the Vegas shooting, people are scared to go to concerts now.”
Todd says he isn’t letting fear stop him from having a good time, but says he is a little more cautious when going out and he urges others to do the same.
“If you are going to go out and enjoy yourself, I would suggest being prepared for something to happen,” said Todd. “Don’t just go out there willy nilly, no cares in the world.”
He says the first step is to be aware of your surroundings wherever you are.
