LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was shot in the front parking lot of a Lexington middle school Thursday.
According to police, a football game was going on at the back of Southern Middle School at the time of the shooting.
Police say they responded to reports of shots fired at the school around 7:45 Thursday night.
Several bullets hit vehicles in the parking lot, according to police. The school was put on lockdown.
Officers say they were called to the hospital later in the evening after a 20-year-old man showed up with a gunshot wound.
Police say after further investigation, it is determined that man was involved in the shooting at the middle school.
According to police, two others were supposedly involved were interviewed about the shooting, but officers have not said if the two were arrested.
Police say they don’t believe the shooting and football game were related.
