RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – An elementary school in Madison County was on lockdown Tuesday afternoon as a precaution for what turned out to be a misunderstanding.
White Hall Elementary went on lockdown after Kentucky State Police got a call from someone, alleging that a person was taken against his or her will, from Lee County to Richmond.
KSP says they found a car matching the description given by the caller in the parking lot of Days Inn. The hotel is less than half a mile from White Hall Elementary.
Police say they found both people and, after talking to them, determined the story they were told over the phone was not the case.
“Based upon the ongoing investigation, it does not appear anyone was taken against their will,” said KSP Trooper Robert Purdy. “We’re not sure where that information comes from, and that’s going to be something that we do continue to look at moving forward today.”
The elementary school’s lockdown has since ended.
Trooper Purdy says no charges are expected to be filed.
