LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Despite a steady rain thousands of people came out to the Red, White and Boom music festival Friday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
“Last year we came, and we kind of wished it would rain. It was hot it was hot last year, this year was fun,” said a concert goer.
“It’s like slip in slide, people are dancing, they are jumping up and down, some of them are just taking their hats off and getting wet,” said another festival goer.
Artists scheduled to appear include Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Dustin Lynch, Maren Morris, Chris Janson and more.
“I didn’t expect all this rain, but I got my rain suit on and I’m dedicated, so I’m not missing Luke Bryan for sure,” said one soggy Luke Bryan fan.
Some were surprised by the turnout despite the weather.
“I didn’t think this many people would come out at all and right now walking out there, you are walking literally in mud,” said a water-logged fan.
The annual festival is put on by 98.1 “The Bull” radio station.
