Police: DNA evidence leads to arrest of Lexington man


LEXINGOTN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man has been charged with stabbing an elderly woman several times after breaking into her home, according to police.

Lexington Police say David J. Williams, 36, was charged with Burglary 1st and Assault 1st in connection to the attack on the elderly woman.

They say in August of 2016 Williams broke into the basement of the elderly woman’s home off of Dogwood Drive.

Once inside he demanded money from her, she told him she didn’t have any money that’s when he started to assault her, according to investigators.

According to authorities, Williams targeted the woman after she purchased a vehicle from Williams’ family.

Police say they recently confirmed DNA evidence helped reinforce the arrest.

Williams is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
