LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police didn’t need to arrest a murder suspect because he was already in jail.
They charged 19-year-old Marvell Lacy with murder, wanton endangerment and robbery on Thursday.
Court documents say Lacy robbed the victim, 29 year-old Charles Shryock, back on July 22 on Third and Race Street, then shot him.
Shyrock was hit in the chest then ran back home to Second Street to get help.
He was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital where he later died.
Neighbors say he was on his way to get cigarettes when he was shot.
According to court documents, Shyrock and Lacy did not know each other.
Lacy was already in the Fayette County Detention Center on robbery charges when he was charged with murder.
