LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Laurel County man was arrested Wednesday night after pointing a loaded gun at deputies following a domestic violence assault, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
45-year old James Johnson, of London, struggled with deputies during his arrest on Glenview Road before finally being taken into custody, according to investigators.
Deputies say it all began with a domestic violence complaint on Helvetia Road around 6:40 p.m.
Investigators say they were told the complaint involved a man with a gun. When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned James Johnson had left and was reportedly hiding in an out building on Glenview Road.
Deputies say when they pulled up to the building, Johnson came out and pointed a loaded gun at them.
Investigators say they told Johnson to disarm himself, which he eventually did, but not before the struggle during his arrest.
He faces a number of charges, including assault, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and fleeing and evading police on foot, according to deputies.
Johnson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
