BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – An argument leads to a shooting in Bourbon County.
Police responded to a home on Rogers Mill Road just before 3 a.m. Friday.
That’s near the Montgomery County line.
According to Kentucky State Police, a father shot his son during an argument.
The father, Ernest Ross was outside drinking, got upset and began a verbal argument with his son, according to authorities.
Police say Ross then began to physically assault his son with the stock of a .22 long rifle.
While the son was trying to disarm Ross the rifle discharged and struck his son in the left knee, according to investigators.
State Police say after being shot the son was able to get the gun away from Ross and defend himself until KSP Troopers arrived on scene.
Police say both the son and Ross were transported to the University Of Kentucky Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
After being released from the hospital Ross was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence, according to officials.
Ernest was lodged in the Bourbon County Detention Center.
