LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-As students prepare to go back to school, it’s not just picking up backpacks they have to cross off their to do list.
You’re probably seeing a lot of fundraisers out there for school teams and activities.
We checked out one Sunday for the Lafayette High School band in Lexington.
Students, family, and friends raised money in a unique way with their first annual mattress fundraiser.
They sold mattresses!
John Dailey, VP of fundraising said, “Honestly, I thought it was a crazy idea when I heard of a mattress fundraiser. The name of the company is custom fundraising solutions and they’re all over the country. They do this for nonprofit organizations and they come up and set up an entire showroom of beds and they give, on average, 90 to 100 dollars back for every bed sold.”
Organizers say all the money raised will go directly to the Generals’ band.
